The pair collecting plastic bottles to sell for £2 a day in Manila, Philippines.

They were pictured taking their loot to junkshops where they desperately try to put food on the table.

The pictures were revealed as the Philippines observe World Water day.

On March 22, the global event that focuses on finding access to clean and safe water.

A United Nations spokesperson said: "World Water Day is a day to make a difference for the members of the global population who suffer from water related issues.

"It’s a day to prepare for how we manage water in the future."
