But what do other centenarians believe is behind their long run of cheating the Reaper?
Here’s a few ideas…
‘Don’t have sex’
Jessie Gallan, 109, the oldest woman in Scotland, says, ‘My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.
‘I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married.’
Get lots of sleep
The world’s oldest living person is about to turn 117 – and has revealed that her long life is due to getting eight hours sleep per night.
Oh, and eating sushi (Misao Okawa being Japanese, of course).
Don’t drink
Sakari Momoi, 112, the world’s oldest living man, says, ‘I do not know the secret of my long life. I used to always exercise, eat in moderation and never consumed alcohol.’
Eat lots of eggs
Europe’s oldest person, Emma Morano, says the secret of her long life is eating three eggs per day.
Be nice
116-year-old Gertrude Weaver of the U.S. says the secret is simply being nice, ‘Treat people right and be nice.’
